Galentine Day: Planning

Feb 17, 2016

Hello everybody, today I have decided to share one of the fun activities I like to do which is throwing parties. What person doesn't like parties especially ones that have fun games and awesome food too! My first ever party that I throw was last year, 2015. I decided to adventure out of my zone and become a party planner/hostess! I was so pleased that all my friends enjoyed hanging out together and playing fun games which included trick-or-treating and bobbing for apples. The party was such a hit we have already picked out Halloween costumes this year! Here is a link to my Halloween Party!

When it comes to me planning out my party I like to write it down with pen and paper and create specific points I want to make sure I get.
I first got my inspiration from a Seventeen magazine as shown above. They had really cute DIY projects and yummy looking food to make so I knew that I wanted to throw a party!

Here my general topics:

1. Invites:
The first topic I complete is invites. I write down all the people I want to come to my party and create a checklist. Bullets points are helpful in this category. ;)

2. Theme
I like to jot down ideas of party themes I want to do. Obviously, this party's theme was Galentines Day. I want to do it all outside in my backyard so, I decided to do a Galentines Outside Picnic. I am literally obsessed about picnics and having a fun time outside with friends, so I knew I wanted to do that.

3. Invite Cards/ other Important Ideas:
You can't have a party without a date, time, and place. Come up with a date that seems fit for your party and a time period that you think most people can come. For me, I decided to make my party on February 20 between 1-5pm. For the location, I have picked my house.
The next bit is the invite cards. I like to handmake mine with Picmonkey. It is a free online editing website that lets you create awesome pictures. They even have a section dedicated to Valentines Day!

4. Food (My favorite!)
I like to break this part down into smaller sections,
-Drinks
-Snacks
-Main Dish
-Desserts
I find most of my inspiration from Pinterest. Click here is look at my Galentines Day board. Most of the time I find great ideas for different food ideas, DIY projects to complete and outfits for the special occasion.

5. Games and Music
Piece together music that is related to your party. Don't be afraid to ask your friends for suggestions of songs they like. Find a way to have all of them together so you can play all the songs in one place.
For the games, do some challenges. It's fun to have a little competition with your friends once in awhile. Have a prize ready when someone does win. Yo don't want anyone getting upset because you don't have something for them. A good source is again Pinterest and Youtube.

6. Decor
Finally, the last section is Decor. I love to create DIY projects on my own and add my own little flare to it! Again, Pinterest and youtube come into play. My top searches on both social media would be

  • Valentines Day
  • Valentine's Day DIY
  • Galentines Day
  • V-day DIY
  • Valentines
I find just taking 10+ minutes going through the all the pins on Pinterest you can find great ideas for a party.

I hope you guys enjoyed today's post. I will be doing a haul of the stuff I got really soon, so stay tuned for that.
